Rhinebeck hosted Mount Academy, New Paltz, Ellenville and Marlboro last night at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. The boys split the meet 2-2, falling to Mount Academy 19-42 and New Paltz 23-32, and winning against Ellenville and Marlboro who were not able to field a full team. Running in their first meet at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, the Modified Cross Country team did a terrific job! All of our runners completed the very difficult course in under 17 minutes.
Rhinebeck cross country traveled to the Hudson Valley Sportsdome for their first league meet of the season against Highland, Onteora, and Saugerties. The boys team opened 3-0, defeating Highland 19-36, Onteora 23-32, and Saugerties 21-34. Leading the way were juniors Joe Hagerty and Christian Cale who were 2nd and 3rd overall in team scoring. The
Today’s Varsity Cross Country meet at Dover has been cancelled; there will be practice after school.
The Rhinebeck Central School District’s Interscholastic Athletic program has been designed to enhance the educational experience of our students. Sports involvement provides student athletes with the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. The personal characteristics of physical fitness, athletic skill, leadership, discipline, self esteem, loyalty, cooperation, motivation, sense of fair play and the development of long term friendships are promoted by participation in athletics. The objective of the Rhinebeck Interscholastic Athletic program is to complement the objectives and policies of the school in the development of well-rounded individuals who are capable of taking their place in today’s society.
