On Friday, October 13th the Rhinebeck JV Boys soccer team matched up against a strong Red Hook side for their last game of the season. Rhinebeck started with the kick-off, but after a few quick mistakes, Red Hook gained possession, and after a long throw-in near the corner flag, Red Hook took the lead just a couple minutes in with a slow rolling ball in the bottom left corner. About 15 minutes later, Red Hook found themselves with a corner, and after some chaos in the box, they were left with an easy finish just a few feet away from the net. The half ended 2-0 for Red Hook. Despite the score, Rhinebeck did not give up, and 10 minutes into the second half a ball from Griffin Stewart to Felix Miller at the top of the box, and a beautiful finish into the top right corner gave Rhinebeck some hope. Just a couple minutes later, a ball from Quin Gideon from the left wing to Felix Miller, and yet another amazing finish tied the game 2-2. Rhinebeck took many shots from outside the box but could not convert until a through ball to Calvin Steele was played from the top of the box, with him gently chipping the ball over the keeper to complete the comeback. Rhinebeck was not done yet, though, because some amazing skill from Maynor Asig Sacul and a nicely placed finish into the bottom corner gave Rhinebeck a two-goal lead. The game ended 4-2 for Rhinebeck, finishing an amazing undefeated season.
