Gritty back line play and courageous goalkeeping led the way as we defeated a strong Onteora Eagles side 3-0. In the first half we created several chances on attack and finally put one past the Eagles’ keeper in the 27th minute thanks to an unselfish pass by one of our strikers. Just before halftime, an athletic point-blank save by our keeper kept the Eagles off the scoreboard. At the beginning of the second half, we and the Eagles both had good chances at goal, but neither side could convert. Then, in the 45th minute, a creative back-heel pass by one of our wingbacks connected with one of our strikers, who brilliantly curved an outside-of-the-foot volley out of reach of the Eagles’ keeper and into the side netting, putting us up 2-0. One of our midfielders added to our lead in the 57th minute with a long-distance strike the Eagles’ keeper couldn’t handle. Another hard-earned victory and great effort by the entire team.
