An exciting (maybe too exciting) match that began with an unexpected rainstorm and ended with a well-deserved 5-4 victory. In the first half we opened the scoring in the 22nd minute on a beautiful assist by one our strikers and well-placed finish by one of our midfielders. A resilient Spackenkill side equalized 10 minutes later. In the 39th minute, just before halftime, we went up 2-1 when one of our wings broke through Spackenkill’s defense and slotted the ball into the side netting. At the beginning of the second half (the rain had stopped, the sun was out) we came out blazing. Three different midfielders scored brilliant goals in the 45th, 51st, and 52nd minutes, giving us a 5-1 lead. The scrappy Spackenkill side fought back, netting three goals to narrow our lead to 5-4. But we held strong before the final whistle, earning the victory. Throughout the match, our three goalkeepers made several goal-saving saves, we showed great effort on defense, possessed the ball well in the midfield, and created many chances on goal.
