Modified Boys Soccer Defeats Webutuck

Frightfully cold and muddy conditions on the afternoon after Halloween didn’t slow us down as we flew to a 6-1 victory over a spirited Webutuck Wildcats side. Although Webutuck gave us a scare early, our killer defending and goalkeeping kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard in the first half, and it was us who broke through first, one of our wingers sliding a screamer into the back of the net in the 9th minute to put us up 1-0. We added goals in the 13th minute (a wicked shot by one of our wingers) and 23rd minute (a crafty finish by one of our strikers) and led 3-0 at halftime. In the second half the Wildcats put up a good fight, creating several chances on attack, but our scary-good defensive play held Webutuck to a single goal. Meanwhile, our creativity in the attacking third resulted in many excellent scoring chances (at times our strikers and wingers played as if possessed) and we converted on three shots in the 33rd, 37th, and 44th minutes. Another well-deserved win. Well done, Hawks!
